Court Sentences James Peter Yaworski to one year in jail for trading in a security without registration

Winnipeg - A Provincial Court of Manitoba judge has sentenced James Peter Yaworski to one year in a provincial correctional facility after pleading guilty on 12 counts of breaching The Securities Act of Manitoba, for trading in a security without registration.

Yaworski had previous infractions with both The Manitoba Securities Commission and The Alberta Securities Commission.

In addition, Yaworski will be on probation for two years following his one year of incarceration. Probation will include among other things, prohibition from being involved in the securities industry in any capacity, including that he is not to manage or invest money for others, trade in securities on behalf of others, or provide investment advice.

The case citation is R. v. Yaworski, 2015 MBPC 68.

The Manitoba Securities Commission is a division of the Manitoba Financial Services Agency, a Special Operating Agency of the Government of Manitoba that protects investors and promotes fair and efficient capital markets throughout the province.
